A great team of craftsmen joiners and administrative experts ensure the focus is on excellence at all levels from quality of products produced through to outstanding customer service.

Meet our Director Carl. He made his start as a floor sweeper and has worked his way up to C.O.F.A. Carl likes to spend his free time fishing, boating and taking long walks on the beach.

Born and raised in Hamilton until moving to Cambridge in 1984 where I attended Cambridge High School through to 1988. Cambridge provided the opportunity to a great education, great community and then the best joinery company in the Waikato.

Leaving school in August 1988, I had an opportunity to get an apprenticeship with Wackrows (I was a floor sweeper after school for five months prior to starting my apprenticeship). This is when my love for joinery started and has not diminished since.

Completing my apprenticeship with trade certificate and then two years later with advanced trade certificate, and small business management courses stood me in good stead to become a shareholder in Wackrows in 1997.

Married with two children, Cambridge is a great place to bring up a family.

Meet our Director Liam. As a Wackrows legacy Liam has sawdust in his blood and it was always a given that he would live and breath wood and joinery.

Born and bred in Cambridge, I started working in the business when I was 2-years-old waving around all the tradesman’s hammers and planes. Over the years growing up with the company, I worked in many capacities such as sweeper boy, smoko boy, making doors and then moved into the accounts side of the business while attending Massey University.

Gus then told me some great fatherly advice that I should try other careers and countries before thinking about the business. For the next seven years I worked in the finance sector before heading overseas to the United States for two years with my wife. Upon our return we settled back into Cambridge in our home, got a dog and got seriously involved into the business by becoming a shareholder. My wife and I have welcomed a son into our lives and he is keeping us very much on our toes.

I have also had the pleasure of being the President of the Waikato Master Joiners and the New Zealand Master Joiners as well as being heavily involved in the NZS:4211 Compliant Timber Joinery project from conception to roll out.

Meet the lovely smiling face that greets you when you arrive at Wackrows – Nikki. When she’s not busy answering your calls and ensuring that our projects run smoother than a freshly sanded tabletop, she can be found in her garden. Whether she’s whipping up a delicious meal or sharing a wine and laugh with friends, her motto is “life is too short for bad wine and boring plants!
